Home Care

It is important to maintain good oral hygiene while in Invisalign treatment. Invisalign aligners are made of a clear, smooth plastic material that is comfortable to wear. You'll wear them for at least 22 hours a day, taking them out only to eat, brush, and floss.

What are Invisalign® Aligners?

Invisalign® is a type of orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear, custom-made aligners to gradually move teeth into the desired position. Your custom-made aligners will be made of Invisalign’s proprietary SmartTrack® material. They’re virtually invisible, so most people won’t even notice you’re wearing them during your teeth straightening.

Wear your Invisalign clear aligners 20 to 22 hours a day for the best results, and take them out only to eat, brush, and floss.

Why Invisalign® Aligners?

image

Aesthetics

One of the most significant advantages of Invisalign is that the clear aligners are virtually invisible when worn, making them a more discreet option than traditional metal braces. This can be particularly appealing for adults or teens who may feel self-conscious about wearing braces.

image

Comfort

Invisalign aligners are made of smooth plastic, which can be more comfortable than traditional braces, which can have sharp edges and irritate the gums and cheeks.

Convenience

The aligners are removable, allowing for easier brushing and flossing and eliminating the need for dietary restrictions. This can be particularly appealing for people with busy lifestyles or those who play sports or musical instruments.

Commonly Asked Questions

How often do I need to wear my Invisalign aligners?

Patients need to wear their aligners for at least 22 hours a day, only removing them to eat, brush, and floss their teeth.

Failure to wear the aligners for the recommended amount of time can lead to treatment delays or poor results.

Will Invisalign aligners affect my speech?

Some patients may experience a slight lisp or difficulty speaking for the first few days after starting treatment, but this typically resolves within a week as they adjust to wearing the aligners.

How often do I need to change my Invisalign aligners?

Patients typically change their aligners weekly, but the exact timing may vary depending on the individual case and the orthodontist’s recommendations.

Are there any dietary restrictions with Invisalign?

One of the benefits of Invisalign is that the aligners are removable, so there are no dietary restrictions.

Patients can eat their favorite foods as long as they remove the aligners before eating and brush their teeth before putting them back in.

Can I still play sports or musical instruments with Invisalign?

Yes, patients can still play sports and musical instruments while wearing Invisalign.

However, they should wear a mouthguard while playing sports to protect the aligners, and they may need to remove the aligners while playing certain wind instruments.
